Richard Simon
President

Richard purchased URA in 1975. Prior to leading the growth of URA and its affiliates, he was a commercial developer in various major markets. He is a member of the Owner’s Committee on Electric Rates and the Building Owners and Managers Association. Under his guidance, URA has become a major force in the utility cost consulting industry, bringing the various disciplines into the twenty-first century.

Joseph Abeleira
Executive Vice President

With thirty-three years of experience in the metering field, Joe has seen technologies, rate structures and real estate strategies become increasingly sophisticated. Trained originally in meter installation and testing, he became familiar with equipment from all the major meter manufacturers. His days spent in customer relations and quality assurance has involved him deeply in rate application and all pertinent tax ramifications. He is proud and grateful for an energetic, dynamic and trustworthy staff that has helped URA Group to meet and overcome all developing challenges.

Nicholas Sena
Managing Supervisor

Nick joined URA Group in October of1979 giving him twenty-five years experience in the energy consulting industry. When Nick first arrived at URA Group, it was a small consulting business with it focus primarily in the Electric Rent Inclusion field. At this time Nick was responsible for conducting Electric Rent Inclusion Survey totaling millions of Square Feet per year. As URA Group evolved into a multi-disciplined business, Nick became more involved in the electric sub-metering division. Nick has been responsible for the development and implementation of its Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) programs and has supervised growth in this area. He spearheaded URA Group’s campaign to develop their Data Acquisition Software (DAQ) which allows the company to read all remote reading sites on a daily basis permitting them to closely monitor each location. Nick has also supervised the development of the new BORG electric billing system; the development of this system has enabled URA Group to offer electronic transmittals of their tenant billing in a PDF format, as well as offering to our clients Internet access to all their billing information.

George Ramirez
IT Manager

George comes to the URA Group with over 10 years experience in both the Sub-metering and Real Estate businesses. Also, as a recent graduate of Columbia University's CTA program for Computer Programming and Software Development, he is a major contributor to the development and maintenance of the BORG billing program and its various components, such as the web-site access. With the continued growth of the URA Group, George is also spearheading the integration of the companies' computing systems. His contributions also extend to the development of handheld computer units making the URA Group's sub-meter reading and billing system more accurate and efficient.

Michael Cannon
Advanced Technologies Architect

Mike joined with URA Group in 2001 aiming to apply advanced electronic, database, and Internet technologies to the company's operations. Mike has designed URA Group's DAQ automated data acquisition system, the BORG billing and web-based reporting system, and RAMBO, URA Group's new ultra-advanced meter reading hardware system. Mike studied digital electronics and computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. He has a thirty-year background in computer systems development, and business management. Mike is an expert in electronic design and control, and has had numerous patents granted. He invented, designed, manufactured, and marketed the electronic device with which deaf people use the telephone (the TDD), a project that received Cabinet-level recognition in Washington, DC. The project was also showcased at the Smithsonian Museum for outstanding industrial design. In 1977, Mike pioneered the development of interactive computer timeshare services. In 1983, he also pioneered the development of networked smart-building energy management and control systems for EnergyLine Systems, Inc.

URA Group has been organized for more than half a century.

Management collectively has more than 150 years in the business.
